Look out Lute's bringin' em in.

Lebron James was quoted as saying Jarred Bayless is the better player right now than Mayo. Mayo might have more upside, I dont know.

Re: Rivals top 150 hoops 2007 released

Bayless isnt going anywhere. Hes signed sealed and delievered since day 1.
Despite rumors to the contrary, 2007 combo guard Jerryd Bayless says that he is fully committed to Arizona. Late Thursday night there was a report that Bayless decided to decommit from the Wildcats.

However, Bayless reached out to GOAZCATS.com to set the story straight.

"I am fully committed to Arizona," said Bayless.

Bayless was clearly frustrated by the rumors of him changing his mind and said that at no point did he go back on his word to head coach Lute Olson.

"No, I didn't decommit," Bayless said.

We asked Bayless if he was having any second thoughts about Arizona and he replied accordingly.

"None," he said.

With Bayless remaining firm to the Wildcats, Arizona still has three commitments in the 2007 recruiting class in forward Jamelle Horne, center Alex Jacobson and Bayless

Bayless reminds me of a faster Jay Williams with not as good of a jumper. The guy is electric in the open court and can be either the scoring PG or the game managing PG when needed. When I saw film on him, my jaw dropped. Either the teams he was playing were exceptionally slow or he's exceptionally fast--and it looked more like the latter. The guy has a college-game-ready body as of right now too. I think Bayless will end up being better than Mayo myself--Mayo's got too much baggage.

Mayo will be searchin for a place to play this coming year...he is tryin to get into Oak Hill, which means we could wind up playing him, Walker and Beasley

i think they turned him down after they found out he punched a girl (or threatened to punch a girl) at school...but Coach Smith is trying a 2nd time

Im hoping for a Bayless, Budinger, Horne led team in 07. No doubt they lose Marcus Williams in the next draft after nearly losing him this year. Bayless will play the 2 because Nic Wise is the better point guard. Wise, though only a 3 star, was voted Texas Co-HS player of the year along with Darrell Arthur. Wise is compared to Jason Gardner, which isnt a superstar flashy kind of guy, but Id rather have a solid guy like that which will stay 3 or 4 years than a Marbury type that you are going to lose after 1 season. Wise is an upgrade from Shakur and I'll leave it at that, thank god that dude is gone.

Congrats on Lance Thomas btw. I saw where he committed and then Darrell Arthur committed to Kansas a few days ago to finalize the class.

Yeah--I've gotta say it was the most scared I've ever been that Duke was going to lose a recruit to Rutgers. Kind of like recent times where Miami's competed with the USF & UCF's of the world for certain players and not landed them.

Thomas allows Duke SO much flexibility coming up the next couple of years, especially with the departure of Boateng. Lance will play right away. He may or may not start, just depends. Duke's looking like this:

PG - Paulus
SG - Pocius, Scheyer
SF - Henderson, McClure
PF - McRoberts, Thomas, Boykin
C - Zoubek

That's all on the roster right now. I mean, you've got some players that can swing between positions to go either big or small, but this is the most underwhelmed I've been by a Duke team in YEARS. But, given what they've got working for the 2007 class with already having Nolan Smith and Taylor King, and hopefully getting one or the other or both of Kyle Singler & Kevin Love...they could just be reloading again.

Next year--expect a down year. Even in a down year, I think they'll stay in the top 15-20 and compete for the ACC title with UNC, GT, and BC.

What do you think are the chances of getting Love? I see where Love is showing ucla a lot of love That national title run was big for them but if they lose Farmar and Afflalo to this years draft, it will hurt their chance to build. Then again, Im starting to think that college basketball is going to be a 1 and done rebuilding effort every single year which makes it even worse than it was before because you tease fans with a great player then he is gone. At least before, you didnt have to get emotionally attached to a guy that was just going to skip college entirely.

What do you think your chances of getting Gary Johnson are? I cant really speculate on Arizona's chances with him, but Lute has done very well in Houston lately, there is a pipeline there.

Re: Rivals top 150 hoops 2007 released

I think getting Johnson depends on if McRoberts goes or stays after this year. He should leave, opening up a need for another athletic 4/5. Love or Johnson would be nice, but I wish Duke would go after Julian Vaughn a lot harder. I like his frame and his game a lot better than Love or Johnson. Johnson's the better athlete between the two, but Vaughn would fit better into Duke's system...he's got a lot of size & range, like Luol Deng.

I've heard rumblings that things with Singler and Love will go one of 2 ways--either they both go to UCLA, or they split with Love going to UNC and Singler going to Duke. I haven't heard a scenario that made sense that has both going to Duke...but hey, wishful thinking doesn't hurt from time to time.
